Panel Discussion

Q: What is the most challenging time during your business?
A: [Alquatic] Customers have limited awareness of the product, so workshops are held to increase familiarity with the technology.
[Calty Farm] Faces policy challenges from the local government and is addressing them through communication with local associations.
[CHALATEX] Farmers lack education and have limited internet access, requiring training programs and grant support for better infrastructure.
[Farmtri]  Struggles with technology adaptation,  infrastructure gaps, sustainable farming practices, and addressing different farmer needs.
[JALA] Challenges in building a profitable business model across the value chain; focuses on data-driven aquaculture to improve productivity and logistics.
[Sagri] Difficulty in technology adoption and revenue generation; supports Japanese carbon reduction projects while collecting agricultural data to generate revenue through carbon offsetting.

Q. How do startups address the issue of declining ROI when investing in infrastructure?
A. CHALATEX  addresses this challenge through subsidies and financial support provided by governments, international financial institutions, local banks, and NGOs.

Q. How was the collaboration with CHALATEX ?
A. [Sagri] Partnering with other companies that have their own specialties can provide diverse solutions. Collaboration is essential for us to solve farmers’ challenges.

Q. What are the goals of each startup for this year?
A. [AIquatic] Aims to distribute all its solutions and products to farms in Brunei and expand into the ASEAN region by the end of the year.
[Calty Farm] Plans to expand its business to Malaysia, Timor-Leste, and Brunei.
[CHALATEX] Seeks to establish a new entity in collaboration with Singaporean entrepreneurs and develop a system for larger-scale farms before expanding into Cambodia and other Asian markets.
[Farmtri] Focuses on validating its technology and analytics while securing sustainable raw materials for farms and food businesses in the ASEAN market.
